The Importance of Match Play

Just like any other sport, practice is only part of the equation. You must play the game to really develop your skills.

Match play can be intimidating especially for young tennis players because everything falls on their shoulders. Am I going to get my serve in? What if I lose? These are all questions we ask ourselves, and learning to deal with these emotions makes us stronger tennis players, better students at school, and better at handling what life throws at us.

Tennis is like a combination of chess and football. In other words it is just as mental as a chess match and as intense as a football game (minus the physical contact of course)!

Now, unless your kids are playing tournaments regularly or going out and doing set play with you or a friend of theirs, they are missing out on this vital part of the game.

So that's why we offer our Saturday match play practices.

From 11:00am - 12:30pm anyone in our Challengers, or All Stars groups are welcome to attend.

From 12:30 - 2:00pm anyone in our Elites, or Champs/Super Champs group are welcome to attend.

I understand that weekends can sometimes be tough with scheduling, but even if you can drop in once or twice per month we have that option as well.

The price is $90/month for anyone enrolled in at least one class during the week.

Drop ins are also available for $35.

To enroll just visit our kids program page here.

This is the first step in becoming a mentally strong tennis player. Once your kids are proficient with match play they can begin playing circuits, and higher level USTA tournaments.
